Questions, answered.

How is my fingerprint ID generated?

Selected browser signals are sorted, normalized and hashed locally with SHA-256, with 96 bits encoded as a compact ID. The check time, viewport size and IP are excluded, so identical inputs produce the same ID. Browser, system, rendering or privacy changes can change the ID. It identifies an environment snapshot, not a permanent device or a guaranteed unique person.

Where do the IP address and location come from?

Opening this page looks up your public exit IP and approximate location. A proxy or VPN can change the exit address. Country, city, postal code and coordinates come from IP geolocation, not your device’s GPS. A failed IP lookup does not block browser results.

Are the results uploaded or saved?

Browser signals and the ID are calculated in this page without uploading the report or writing it to local storage. The IP lookup makes a network request with your exit IP and standard request information, without including this fingerprint report. Copy and download are explicit actions. Normal site resources and analytics follow our Cookie Policy.

Does a false WebDriver flag mean I will pass a bot test?

No. WebDriver is one declared signal; sites may also inspect network, behavior and other environment data. This tool does not score human identity or predict acceptance by a target site. For additional checks, continue to BrowserScan.
